So there had been a lot of talk about Range Rover alternative. So I thought I would have a go and offer this scenario to you, would you rather:
A MK3 Range Rover with a third party warranty.
Or a Defender 110 for the price of the third party warranty but with an allowance of modifications to the value of the MK3 Range Rover itself.
So basically Unreliable Luxury vs Unluxurious Reliability.

I wouldn’t call the Defender reliable. More like the Range is unreliable luxury and the Defender is unreliable utilitarian.

I want both but would hate myself for not taking the 110

Who wouldn’t take the Defender?

Me: It’s more luxurious, it costs less to run kind of in the future, it’s better in almost every single way.
Part of Me I Hate: BUT DEFENDER

Defender for sure. But don’t kid yourself, they’re not reliable either, not by any stretch of the imagination.
It would be the rare four door short box pickup configuration like the blacked out one you pictured, but mine would be dark grey with black steelies. I would use the mod money to insulate the cabin for sound and temperature and then wrap everything in suede and leather. Install new seats, upgrade the dash.
Then LS/700R4 swap it using a custom built adaptive transfer case for that exact swap (they exist and are beautiful billet amazingness and I “know” the guy who makes them).
More or less this:
